Crispy Chicken Pesto Naan Pizza

Looking for a delicious way to use up some leftover naan bread? Try this quick and yummy chicken pesto naan pizza recipe!

I know what you’re thinking. Pesto and naan aren’t usually things that go together.

But trust me, this recipe marries the two ingredients together perfectly!

About Chicken Pesto Naan Pizza

Naan pizza uses naan bread instead of a pizza base to create personal pizzas with your favorite toppings.

For this recipe, I top my naan bread with 5 simple ingredients:

  • cilantro pesto
  • chicken
  • cherry tomatoes
  • mozzarella cheese
  • fresh basil

This dish is super quick and easy to put together, and only needs 10-12 minutes in the oven (even less if you’re using an air fryer)!

Here’s why I love cilantro (coriander) pesto

Growing up in an Indian household, cilantro is a herb that we often use in home cooking. My mum would always have some in the house to garnish curries, stews, and stir-fries.

Ever since I learned cilantro pesto was a thing, I’ve been obsessed! It’s such a great way to use up any leftover cilantro I have lying around before they go bad.

Here’s why you should try making cilantro pesto:

  • It’s super aromatic and tasty. As you’re making the pesto in a food processor, the aroma that wafts up is incredible!
  • It’s vegan-friendly. This cilantro pesto recipe doesn’t use any cheese, and is vegan-friendly.
  • It’s a nice variation to basil pesto. If you’re tired of the usual basil pesto, spice things up with this fresh cilantro pesto.

After making this chicken pesto naan pizza, you can toss any leftover cilantro pesto with some pasta for a quick weekday lunch.

Here’s why I use chicken breast for this recipe

Chicken breast often has a bad rep for being dry, but it can be a lean and delicious protein option when not overcooked.

I like topping my pizza with small chunks of chicken breast because they cook quite quickly and remain pretty succulent.

Plus, a little goes a long way for these chicken pesto naan pizzas. One chicken breast, cut into small chunks, is more than enough to top 4 crispy naan bread pizzas that can serve 2-3 people! Pretty amazing, right?

Why make naan pizza?

This is a great way to use up any leftover naan bread you have in the fridge. Just slather on some cilantro pesto on the naan bread, add your toppings, and pop into the oven for 10-12 minutes.

It’s so simple and yummy to make. It transforms your leftovers into something completely different and delicious!

You can even make this with readymade naan bread that you find at the grocery store.

That’s what I use here, too. I like using Mission Plain Naan for this recipe. It makes really crispy naan bread pizza.

Can I make this chicken pesto naan pizza in an air fryer?

Yes! You can make this chicken pesto naan pizza in an oven, or in an air fryer.

If you’re using an air fryer, be sure to spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
